Social mission
The French Town Policy Since the time of the "DSQ" (Developpement Social de Quartier 1981) - Social Development of a District), the Cirque éducatif has been hired to contribute to urban affairs. In this way it has piloted "Urban Contracts of Social Cohesion" (CUCS) in the Department of Nord since 2007.
The operation "Petit Bonheur" (A Little Happiness). An original scheme of "co-generosity" led by the Cirque éducatif and its public for the benefit of families in trouble. Seats are offered to them through the organisations "Restaurants du coeur", "Secours catholique" and "Secours populaire" (French associations which help such people). "Co-generosity"? Every time a spectator or organisation buys a seat under the scheme "Petit Bonheur", the Cirque éducatif offers one to match it. In this way every year about 1000 people are invited to gain a little happiness as part of a family. The scheme is supported by the French bank Le Credit Mutuel.
The welcome of disabled people. This welcome takes various forms. In the show, ringside seats are removed to permit wheelchair access. Cultural activities are opened to the disabled in multiple ways. For example, the introductory workshops for circus skills where they train alongside able-bodied youngsters, both teenage and younger. Or the artistic works which they create on the theme of the show within the framework of the educational and therapeutic programmes of their establishments. We display these works at the "Maison de la vie associative" at Reims, and under the big top at Sin le Noble.
